FLAMINGOS MAINTAIN PERFECT WAFU-B RUN WITH WIN OVER BURKINA FASO

Nigeria’s U-17 women’s national team, the Flamingos, continued their perfect run at the WAFU-B U-17 Girls Cup with a 2-0 victory over Burkina Faso in Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire.

The Flamingos dominated proceedings but couldn’t find a breakthrough in the first half despite creating several chances. 

Burkina Faso were forced into an early substitution, while Mary Dunstan received a booking as Nigeria continued to press for an opener.

Nigeria eventually broke the deadlock in the 82nd minute when Dunstan produced a superb finish from distance to put the Flamingos ahead.

They then sealed the victory in added time as Oluwakemi Adegbuyi capitalised on the goalkeeper’s poor positioning to calmly double Nigeria’s advantage.

The result gives the Flamingos three wins from three matches and their second clean sheet of the tournament, following their 5-0 opening victory over Niger. 

The team will now continue preparations for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
