Victor Osimhen Set to Return for Galatasaray vs Kasimpasa
Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen is expected to return for Galatasaray’s Super Lig clash with Kasimpasa on October 9 after several weeks out with a groin injury.
Turkish sports daily Fanatik reports that the date is based on Galatasaray’s rehabilitation programme for the 27-year-old, who withdrew from Nigeria’s squad for the opening 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Galatasaray’s medical team advised Osimhen against international duty after scans revealed a moderate-to-advanced strain with bleeding in his right groin. Taiwo Awoniyi was subsequently called up as his replacement.
The injury has kept Osimhen out of Galatasaray’s Champions League opener against Sporting Lisbon, and league matches against Kocaelispor and Trabzonspor, with Okan Buruk’s side losing two of those games.
Osimhen had made a flying start before the setback, scoring six goals and providing two assists in his first four Super Lig appearances.
His return against Kasimpasa would come four days before Galatasaray host Barcelona in the Champions League, giving Osimhen a chance to regain match sharpness before the major European fixture.
The Nigerian striker’s absence has also increased pressure on Buruk’s attacking options, with Baris Alper Yilmaz used through the middle in recent matches.
