Spain Beat England 3-2 at Wembley as Kane Misses Penalty

Spain defeated England 3-2 at Wembley in Group A3 of the UEFA Nations League, with Harry Kane’s missed penalty proving costly as the world champions extended their unbeaten run inside 90 minutes to 39 matches.

Spain took the lead inside two minutes when Lamine Yamal pounced on Marc Guehi’s mistake before calmly finishing past James Trafford.

 Ferran Torres then had two further chances to extend the advantage, but England survived and gradually grew into the contest.

The hosts levelled through Anthony Gordon after a swift counter-attack involving Jude Bellingham, before Kane put England ahead with a header that deflected in off Marc Cucurella just before half-time.

England continued to threaten after the restart, but Spain were handed a route back into the game when VAR awarded a penalty for Rodri’s foul on Bellingham. 

Kane slipped while taking the spot-kick, hitting the crossbar before being penalised for a double touch.

Spain capitalised on the momentum shift, with substitute Alex Baena equalising after Nico O’Reilly gave the ball away. 

Mikel Oyarzabal then completed the comeback with a clever clipped finish to secure three points for Luis de la Fuente’s side.

 England have now won just one of their last 10 League A Nations League matches.
